Emily's CRaM homework 22/9/09

Today we learnt about vox-popping.
The rules about filming are that: 1. You have to position the camera so that the person you are fiming's eyes, are in the top third of the camera. 2. Do NOT zoom when filming. 3. Always ask for their permission berfore filming. 4.Do NOT film moving vehicles. 5.Do NOT film from moving vehicles. 6. Do NOT run with the camera. 7. Do NOT attempt to film from heights.
When chooising backgrounds, locations and people to film, you have to think about is it backgound going to suit the subject that you are talking about, the location also has to suit the subject, but the most impotant ting is the person you are filming because some people can be very unpredictable about what they are going to do and say .e.g. drunk people because they have no controll over what they are doing, depending on how drunk they are.
When working as a team you have to make sure that you get along quite well with each other, make sure that you all know what you are doing.e.g. one person doing the sound, one person doing the filming and another person incharge of the wires.
When filming vox-pops you have to be careful not to zoom in and out when filming, get too much
of the background in the shot, if it is irrelevant to the subject you are talking about.

What is difficult about filming vox-pops well is that you have to make sure you have done several things right.e.g. positioned the camera so it is not at a tilt, or moving, or chopping the top of the person you are fiming's head. When I viewed the first attempts I noticed that when I was filming, I did a few things wrong such as zooming in and out whilst filming and bringing the microphone into view also whilst filming. When I went out again I mad sure that I had poitioned the camera before filming, and made sure that the mirophone and boom pole were well out of the way, and not seen whilst filming.
