Today we got split into 2 groups, I was put into a group to do Photography. We then got split up into little groups, and I got put with Jamie Walsh. Before break we looked through the yellow pages, and had 10 seconds to look for a plumbing service. After all of us had chosen one we had to say why we chose it e.g It was an eye catching advertisement because of the colours used/ it had lots of big, bold writing/ it got straight to hte point of what the plumbing service does. After break we had to come up with a name for our group, choose who was going to be group leader, and come up with a name for our catering service that we are going to be advertising. We haven't yet come up with a team name, but we have decided who will be the team leader, and that is Jamie, and our catering service is called 'Hungry Much?'.
After lunch we took pictures of an orange, and apple and a cup of tea. We had to use the techniques we have previously learnt in the lessons before. We went round the school looking for places to take the pictures, and we thought that the window sill would be a good place, because it has the light shining in into the picture, and into the camera. The light worked really well and even worked better when we used the flash on the camera. We also took a picture of the orange and the apple in a tree, which also worked really well. After we had taken all of the pictures we needed, we went inside and on the computers and downloaded the photos onto the computer. We then used photoshop to produce the catering design using the pictures taken.
On photoshop we adjusted the colours and tones in the picture that we are going to be using, we took out any smudges or dirt in the picture to sharpen it up a little.

Emily's CRaM homework 15/10/09
Today we went to the Fitzwilliam museum, where we looked at lots of pictures to see which ones used different techniques, e.g for Subjet/ Focal point I chose a picture called Gimcrack with John Pratt upon Newmarket Heath, by George Stubbs.
After lunch we went to a graveyard and took pictures, using the techniques we learnt in the previous lesson and whilst looking round the Fitzwilliam Museum.
These are just some of the pictures I took.

Emily's CRaM homework 4/10/09
This session the group edited the vox-pops that the group filmed last week in town. My role was giving Hannah ideas how to put it together and which order things should go in.
My contribution today was basically giving Hannah advice. Personally, I think that we should have chosen a better subject to interview people on, and ask them more questions, because we didn't manage to film many people when we went out around town, and so therefore we didn't have many vox-pops to put together. We achieved to put together a good piece of filming together, with good music and good titles. We didn't manage to make a very long piece of film. We started to build up on ideas on how we can improve next time.
It was enjoyable to mess around with the music and the speed of the person speaking. We discovered that older women are better at being interviewed because they are more reliable at giving good answers, whereas most of the men that we filmed were immature and not giving many very good answers. I learned that the type of music that you have in your piece of film depends on the subject you are talking about e.g. you wouldn't have very dark and ominous music when talking about circuses and happy things. I have become better at taking sections of vox-pops and mixing them together and putting them in a good order. As a group, we found it quite hard but managed to do it eventually. The hardest part was coming up with the right sort of music to go with the piece of film. I was satisfying to find a good piece of music in the end. My stengths today were putting the clips and titles in order. I was less successful at putting the piece of music into the work.
In the future, we must spend more time on putting the clips together and a little bit less time on choosing the backgorund music, because that's what took up most of out time. We need to organise it out abit better next time. It's now importatnt that we focus on getting the work done roughly before putting in lots of detail into it. The next step would be to put more detail into it. As a result of today we managed to create a piece of work worth watching.
