14.1.10

Today in CRaM we did a number of things :)

First I wrote up my Shakin' Moo's brief, which included all the research I did about Shakin' Moo's competition what the have and what Sahkin' Moo's has to offer. n the research I loked at Shake Away which is Shakin' Moo's biggest competition, as they have most of what Shakin' Moo's consists of :(
- Shakin' Moos brief

v
Our chalange was to come up with some ways to promote Shakin' Moo's and get more people to come here rather than going to Shake Away.

In the group I worked in (Me, Rebecca and Hannah) we came up with 3 ideas;

1.Happy hour : Run from 3pm- 4pm on a Sunday, large milkshakes are the same price as a regular, get free topping with leaflets.

2.Taster session : Costs 20p a cup,
3.Milking session (Using a fake cow) : get people to come and have a go at milking a cow, it will coz £1- £2 per person, for all ages!!

All of the goups came up with a presentation to show Chris (Shakin' Moo's manager). I found it quite usefull because it helped me remeber all the things we have been doing, Rebecca had made a little version of what we hope our leaflet would look like or what we would like it to look like.

After lunch Chris came in and we showed our presentations to him, he told us what he liked, and what he might use from our ideas. After he looked at our presentation, we asked him 3 questions and he gave us his answers and ideas, of what e could use and what was god and bad about it.
1.What did you think- feedback? Excelent work concepts in happy hour and taster session and brilliant photos.
2.What was the artistic aspects of our work? Excelent photography.

3.What can be improved? Improved practicality of the flyer (good conept, expensive to make)

Chris particularily liked the photo that rebecca took of the front of the shop;

Today we had a cover teacher called Miss Madan. I foud it a bit boring beacuse we were basically doing the same thing as last lesson, all lesson :( .

We were writing up our ideas on the computer and putting our ideas together.

Our ideas were: Try before you buy- tasters of any kind of drink that is sold in Shakin' Moo's, but the tasters cost 20p each, so that people can try them but not take advantage and take loads and not buy a drink in the end which will cause money loss for the business. We think that 20p is a fair price rate because it is 10% of the nomal price for a medium size cup of milkshake, also we think it is a fair price as it isn't very expensive.

Happy hour- an hour when we sell large milkshakes for the same price as a medium($2.60). The happy hour will run from 3.00- 4.00 on Saturdays every week. We think that doing this will encourage more people to come and buy a milkshake, especially on the weekends. :)

An idea I had, was to get celeberaties to come to shakin' moo's to see if they like them and see if they would buy them, nad if they have positive views, then Shakin' moo's could get them to say what they like about the milkshakes, have pictures take of them drinking them, or even become a fan on facebook to show their support, or something like that.

Shakin's moo's main competition is shake away.
Shakin' moo's and shake away are quite alike in most ways.
Ways in which shakin' moo's can improve their buisness is buy:
1. Try and get a sponsor for Shakin' Moo's.
2. Have games on the website.

Today we worked at parkside. This morning we discussed what we would be doing during the day. In the morning we found out that we would be meeting the manager of 'Shakin' Moo's', and we discussed what sort of questions we are going to be asking him (Chris). We have been asked to produce a leaflet, slideshow or any other medium to promote 'Shakin' Moo's'. We had to ask Chris what to advertise; e.g. the product, a special offer... And what sort of medium would be best for advetrising 'Shakin' Moo's'; e.g a leaflet, poster, email campaign, website- facebook, news letter, slide show+ music, video advert or radio.

I worked in a group with Rebecca Purkis and Hannah Bicknell, and we chose to make a leaflet and do a special offer, which was to do a happy hour maybe a couple of times a month or 2months. We also came up with the idea of having tasters so people can "try before you buy." But the tasters arent free because otherwise people might take advantage and take loads and not end up buying a drink, which would cost quite alot and not make a profit for the buisness, so we made the tasters 20p each or maybe more in the future. We have decided to stay with the cowmoofalge and the colours (pink and blue) because they are good and suit the shop very well. :)

I cant think of anything else to say so... byeee xx XD

In the morning we got into our groups and finnished off our catering leaflets, by adding pictures, changing the font of the writing to match the style of the leaflet.

In the afternoon we went out and took some pictures of things such as a bin, Mr Hind's car, and various othe objects.
After that we opened them up onto photoshop, to 'tweek' them up a little bit by taking away little bits of dirt, changin the tone and contrasts of the colours, darkening the edges and so on.

I took this picture because I liked all of the different colours used in it.

This is a picture of Mr Hind's car, which I am going to adjust later on.

Emily's CRaM Homework 22/10/09

Today we got split into 2 groups, I was put into a group to do Photography. We then got split up into little groups, and I got put with Jamie Walsh. Before break we looked through the yellow pages, and had 10 seconds to look for a plumbing service. After all of us had chosen one we had to say why we chose it e.g It was an eye catching advertisement because of the colours used/ it had lots of big, bold writing/ it got straight to hte point of what the plumbing service does. After break we had to come up with a name for our group, choose who was going to be group leader, and come up with a name for our catering service that we are going to be advertising. We haven't yet come up with a team name, but we have decided who will be the team leader, and that is Jamie, and our catering service is called 'Hungry Much?'.

After lunch we took pictures of an orange, and apple and a cup of tea. We had to use the techniques we have previously learnt in the lessons before. We went round the school looking for places to take the pictures, and we thought that the window sill would be a good place, because it has the light shining in into the picture, and into the camera. The light worked really well and even worked better when we used the flash on the camera. We also took a picture of the orange and the apple in a tree, which also worked really well. After we had taken all of the pictures we needed, we went inside and on the computers and downloaded the photos onto the computer. We then used photoshop to produce the catering design using the pictures taken.
On photoshop we adjusted the colours and tones in the picture that we are going to be using, we took out any smudges or dirt in the picture to sharpen it up a little.

Emily's CRaM homework 15/10/09

Today we went to the Fitzwilliam museum, where we looked at lots of pictures to see which ones used different techniques, e.g for Subjet/ Focal point I chose a picture called Gimcrack with John Pratt upon Newmarket Heath, by George Stubbs.

After lunch we went to a graveyard and took pictures, using the techniques we learnt in the previous lesson and whilst looking round the Fitzwilliam Museum.

These are just some of the pictures I took.
